- Blue Smoke vinyl. American Footballs first album showcases cleanly picked guitars, intricate drumming, and the vocals of Mike Kinsella (Owen, Capn Jazz). The band, made up of Kinsella, Steve Holmes and Steve Lamos rooted itself in Champaign and recorded this album at Private Studios with Brendan Gamble (Braid). As a band, American Football dissolved into the history books almost as soon as this album was released, but its success continued to grow in their absence and the band eventually reunited in 2014 for the records 15th anniversary.
